Broome birds and one from the WTP.

My wife and I recently returned from a 10 night holiday in Broome. Our first three nights were spent at the Broome Bird Observatory (highly recommended)and the remaining seven at a resort adjacent to Cable Beach. The birding was excellent and I recorded 20 new birds for my life list. Thanks for viewing.
.
Little Friarbird at the BBO.

.
Red-headed HE at the Streeter's Jetty mangroves.

.
A Lesser Frigatebird over the Broome port area.

.
Yellow Chat on the Roebuck plain.

.
A Red-winged Parrot which happily fed whilst we fired off quite a few photos.

.
Mistletoebird at the Town Beach mangroves.

.
An Eastern Osprey cooling his feet at the port.

.
Rufous-throated HE at the BBO hide.

.
A very friendly Pied Oystercatcher performs a flypast on Cable Beach.

.
Finally, Crakes have been reported in large numbers at the Western Treatment Plant (Werribee, Vic) and we were entertained by about six Baillon's Crakes. Another tick for me.

All stunning shots George. More than half of these I have never seen before and I must get back to the WTP soon to look for those Crakes and all the other birds recorded there lately.

Cheers, Owen.

Great shots George, just adore the Red Headed Honeyeater, and the yellow chat.

Thanks to all who commented and apologies for the late reply. I would suggest that anyone who has access to the Western Treatment Plant (Melbourne) should plan to go there and see the Crakes and Rails. There are lots of Australian Spotted, Spotless and Baillon's Crakes plus Lewin's and Buff-banded Rails. Additionally, reports to Birdline indicate that the waders are returning in large numbers.

Cheers,

George
