Hey everybody,
Just back from the Melonfest in Chinchilla. (Found out that im a good melon skiier). The birds where also out for a party, here are a few photos.
Enjoy!
Superb Fairy-wren
Double-barred Finch
Brown Honeyeater
Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater
Striped Honeyeater
And the mystery bird. Anyone know? It stumped me...
female common black bird ?.
THATS IT! thank you very much it matched everything except the geography of it.
That is what I was going to say QLdbird too. Don't know if we have them in Brisbane or not though.
Good to see you are getting some good catches, the first one has a bit of a hazey cast to it and a little editing would remove that.
I quickly did a bit just on Picasa and have added it here for you .
Are you enjoying your new camera as much as you thought you would then???? :')

Hi, Blackbird, yes! Female, it might not be! (for me, the most common bird in Europe, in every garden) I think it is a juvenile, just changing into it's adult plumage. They "all" start out this brownish colour, with grown beaks. Then, as you can see, they change into the male or female colour, from the tail first. have a look at this one, it starts to turn black, only the front, and the head are still brown. The beak of the male will turn yellow. This baby is going to be a black male.

Very nice shots QLD bird from a very nice part of the state.
The Blackbird is one I did not expect to see there, the closest I have seen them is Boggabri in NSW.
