This poor exhausted Red Wattle Bird was photographed feeding the Juvenile Common Koel it had been raising as it's own. The pic was taken on 25 Jan 2009. I didn't see any Common Koels in my garden (Balgowlah) last summer but one of my daughters who lives in Meadowbank certainly did. The constant calling nearly drove her crazy.
Good shot of this. I have never seen a Koel before. It's funny how the birds who raise Koels don't even see that the baby is bigger than them!
Cheers, Owen.
That is a great capture Corinne. I get lots of Koels up my way and they are very entertaining with their activities . I love to hear them call in summer .
You may find if you want to post any more pics that if you learn how to post the picture so it comes up as a live image that people are more responsive.... there are instructions on how to do this in the advice column. You need to open a host site account such as Flickr.
Welcome anyway it is good to have newcomers :')

Thank you for your comment and advice, birdie, I will do that in future as most of my best bird photos are on flickr.
Well caught Corinne.
