Eurasian Coot

At last the weather broke and I was able to get outside again without getting wet - I left that to the Coot!

Great eye shot, Tark.
Always a good feature to mark a clean image.
Glad you're getting sunshine now!

Thanks Dennis, I am gradually finding new birds to add to those already in my gallery. I learn best in the field, books are for the birds!

Thanks steve - When it comes to studying text I'm a dunce - for instance, instruction manuals in particular are a last resort for me - they invariably leave out the very thing I need to know.
.
Thanks Tassie.

nice ones!
were they in the north of the state?
i must say i haven't seen any coots here in the hobart vicinity (surely they must be around though). they were VERY common in perth (WA not Tas!)

being on tank water i NEVER thought i would get sick of the rain, but i must admit i too had enough this week. Good to see the sun, i'd almost forgotten what it looked like.

g'day and thanks, zoidberg. The Coots and the other waterbirds were at Bridgewater. Yes, and after a couple of fine days it looks like we're in for more dirty weather, mate!

Thanks Tark - Didn't know what this little fellow was (although they are pretty common in SA) until I saw your photos.

Thanks Lyn, the habitat appears identical to the swamp where I found mine.
