Yes those tiny little Plovers can be really hard to see on the beach huh? I have only ever seen the red capped ones but man they were so hard to see I thought I was imagining it at first!!

They sure do camouflage well. Its quite surprising, there could be two to three different species all together.
I ment my laptop was NO good for editing. Is a good computer essential.

They all look great. Must get down to Flinders again one day. I have yet to get a decent Sooty OC shot. Thanks for sharing.

Great range of waders. I never knew some Sanderlings and Turnstones stay for the winter. The Hooded Plover and Sanderling are very sharp. I haven't seen both of these birds.

Cheers, Owen.

great shots reckless !! Can't wait to go to any beach, too cold, and my camera is broken! Have noticed the Oystercatcher is "ringed". Are they endangered?

Thanks for all the nice comments.
Owen if you head down to reef island or flinders you will see hooded plovers and sanderlings. Hooded plovers mainly at flinders. I'm not sure if the younger ones might stay for a winter or they just got confussed with our wierd weather.
Araminta, i notice nearly all the birds i see on the beach have tags. I thing it's just for studies. Pretty much all the sooty and pied OC have them and the ruddy turnstone has one too. A lot of the sanderlings and plovers will have them also.
