Nice images! If you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, you could really tweak the images to pop and jump out of the screen. Though not having much light is not conducive, but a bit of post processing will truly improve these already great shots! :)

Gorgeous shots!

I am rather partial to a SFW :) The blue is just stunning.

Hi windhover, interesting that you should say that.... I have looked at your website (a while back now) and was blown away by your wildlife photography so appreciate your constructive criticism!
I use canon zoombrowser and had already sharpened the images with that... do you think elements is a better programme and would I achieve better results with it? I am not a patient person and prefer to be spending time taking photos than editing them so do not want anything too time-consuming or complex. (read lazy!)
You're correct the light was poor (about 6.15pm on an overcast day) would elements compensate more than ZB, what do you think?
Thanks again, appreciate the feedback and apologies to others for going slightly 'off bird topic'!

Hi Heva1
You are kind. Photoshop Elements is less than 200 bucks I think. Good little program for enhancements.
Send me an e-mail via my website and I will e-mail you a post processed image from your small jpeg I did in less than 30 seconds.

cheers :)

Wow, certainly does make a difference doesn't it! Did you do that by making the contrast higher Windhover? Love the pacific gull, they've been one of my favourite birds since my trip.

Lovely shots Hev, and I love what Akos has done with it.
I don't have Elements either, I think I used to on an old computer but never had the original. ( must have stolen it from someone). I play with the levels in picasa to tweak up my shots. I do find a lot of them come out very flat with very weak definition in the colours otherwise. I am about to post some pics so i'll see if I can undo something and post the comparison.

Cheers

Hi Hev
I have never done anything to my photos other than crop but I am so impressed by the difference - they look publication quality now. I'll have to have a look and see if I have Photoshop Elements. I get a lot of grey skies here.
I really like the gulls too

Hi everyone
All I dd was levels and curves adjustments, which basically pull the darks, lights and midtones into different areas and can create more or less contrast, darker, lighter images. Ans I think I popped up the saturation a little. As I said, around 30 seconds in Photoshop. Worth it for a little extra punch. :)

and for the second shot I just clicked on enhancements and used all the 'autofixes' (using an old version of elements) I'm so impressed with the programme, and have been elementing my photos all day! I find it makes most noteable improvements on tiff images.I only shoot in RAW nowadays but had some jpegs from when I first got the camera and was just getting my head around using a dslr, it did improve them but not with the same wow factor:)thanks again for the tips windhover.

One word of warning though it could swallow your whole life. I started out by grabbing a photo fixing program to fix my kids photos when i bought a new computer some years ago. Little did i realize the power of the program
