I had a wonderful morning at the HWC. One path had a line of flowering bottlebrushes that were full of small birds
I think this is a scarlet honeyeater - my first sighting of this bird. Very exciting! There were lots. All of them had patchy red on the breast, so I think they are immatures changing into adults
There were lots of silvereyes
And I saw at least one white-cheeked honeyeater

These photos are truely beautiful! As I am in the office most of the time it really gives us a thrill to see what people are capturing on the site.
I hope you will consider entering them in our Photo competition that is on from September through to end of November. They will make a great addition to our exhibition over the summer holidays! Check out the details on our website.
I'm glad you enjoyed your day here.

Thanks everyone. The scarlet honeyeater is a gorgeous little bird. It's a wonderful feeling when you first realise you are seeing something new and different.
Hunter Wetlands Centre - I was surprised to see you on here! I want to say how much I appreciate all the work you have done, improving the paths and building the new hides. The centre looks better than ever. I'll be posting some more photos from yesterday as I find time. The lady at reception told me about the photo comp. and I was thinking of entering some photos
Don't think - Enter! Enter!. Great shots and I can feel your excitement seeing them.
I've succumbed to the birding bug!
