Hunter Wetlands NSW

Hey Birdgirl and others

Finally got to spend a few hours at the Hunter Wetlands Centre today. Freezing cold but not after walking several kilometers around the tracks!!
Didn't see many wetland birds, but heaps of small stuff. These were the best I could do with the wrens, even though they gave me heaps of opportunity .

Just saw the one YTB:

That'll do for now in case I lose the whole lot !! LOL

Cheers

Thanks Tassie, I also saw a few other small birds... maybe the reed warbler but when I looked at the ID pics it looked more russety than that. Also a few honeyeaters, New Holland and one that I can not ID as I don't have my guide with me.

Have to head home tomorrow, so will be back to my normal haunts after Tuesday !!
Am having withdrawals from Catbirds LOL

Cheers

Glad you got there Birdie and had a good day. I haven't seen the variegated wren there so I will have to look harder. I have seen them at the nearby Hunter Botanic Gardens, but haven't been back since I nearly stepped on a brown snake!

EEK! I am glad it was so cold when I went there in that case, am not too keen on snakes of any description, but browns and blacks more than any! LOL
I did have a good time, though my friends (waiting for me at home) were less than impressed I think! I took the opportunity to escape, and, once out I find the old adage, " It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission!" works fine for me to get a bit of quiet bird watching time .
I took 3 hours instead of one and they got over it LOL.

Cheers
