the azure kingfisher shot is brilliant
they have got to be one of the hardest birds to find
i have only ever seen one on a bike ride from my house

the other shots are also great
well done tross!

Cheers, Owen.

Great collection - I love the little kingfisher and how lucky to see a wedge-tailed eagle

Thanks birdie, i live in Sydney but recently went camping in central-western NSW which is where i saw the Wedgie and the Freckled Duck. Unfortunately where i live doesn't have a great variety of birds, just squillions of Noisy and Indian Miners/Mynas, so i make sure when i go on holidays to do a bit of bird-watching :)

Ha ha ... look harder in your local area Tross.... there will be others there. What suburb are you in?

Well yes, i may have exaggerated just a teenie bit, there are definitely other birds around. I'm in Baulkham Hills, in western sydney.

Sometimes it is just as simple as having a deeper look! I used to think there was no chance of finding small birds near where I live, but after a year on this forum I discovered that I just wasn't looking hard enough. Baulkham Hills would have some bush areas and reserves wouldn't it?

Looks like there are some good places in Carlingford and surrounding areas.

Happy hunting
Cheers

^ Correct. Been frequenting Hunters Creek Reserve and they are abundant with robins and fairy-wrens. Yes Baulko's great for birding too. Been admiring their colourful parrot varieties just passing some of the eucalypt woodlands with little effort seeking out the King Parrots, Rosellas, Lorikeets and listening to the whipbirds... well at least before the heatwave.
