Good shot rjw but pretty sure thats a adult male so any trouble flying may be some sort of problem, he looks healthy enough, and was calling so maybe not to much to worry about.
Thanks Ed. I'm definitely no expert on these ones (or any others). I was assuming the "young" age because it was peeping like a young chick, and didn't really move even though I was within a few metres of it.

Ed's right, there must have been a problem. This is a fledgling and they all look more like a female, but with an orange, thick bill.
In case the image is too large.

They peep by the way. Their call could possibly make them sound like a young bird. Delightful little fellows. :)
wonderfus shot Richard..and Akos. Very bright birds but still hard to find.
Cheers, Owen.
Was it perhaps leading you away from its young or its nest? That is typical bird behaviour. I have seen various species use this ruse.
Thanks for that Windhover. Birdsong, perhaps, I have seen that behaviour too

The beak on that juvenile Akos looks like someone just super glued it to his head. :) Very cute
I was born to live and I live to die.
Hard to miss the beautiful colour too. I hope it was ok. The chick is very cute
