I had a wonderful little session with this guy out in a swamp near my place in Penrith. Sadly, some idiots burnt half the swamp out a few weeks ago (like they did two years ago) and I am crossing my fingers that the resident Swamp Harriers will again mate and raise young.
The Little Grassbird is a secretive little bird and has a sad little whistle of a call; a drawn out double whistle started off by a short whistle. It's usually the call giving their presence away, rather than a sighting. I pretended I was one of them by whistling and he came out of cover for a mere 10 seconds for me to snare a few shots with my gear. Hope you like him. A bigger image can be seen here:
The little grassbird is beautiful!!! Hmm Akos, we were just talking about the effect "burning off" has on birds. Has there been some research done on the damage it does to them? Why don't you leave your thoughts on the topic on the other thread? (under General) M-L

Top shot Akos. I have no idea how you managed a shot like that with it out in the open. I have tried whistling to them and I can occasionally get glimpses of them but they never come into the open like yours. Great effort!
Cheers, Owen.
The detail in that larger photo is wonderful - a gorgeous little bird. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shot Akos. One of the best I've seen.

Owen if you head down to the hide at the WTP, there should be a couple of obliging LGB there for you.
Cheers,

I have heard heaps at the WTP but they are very frustrating George because they don't reveal themselves. Maybe one day one will...
Cheers, Owen.
Beautiful capture Akos .... your gear and you make a great team!
