Hi Commish
What a cool little nest. You are lucky in spite of the swooping!!

Hi Birdie,

I put a hat on & they don't worry me at all. They only seem to start swooping when the babies are a couple of weeks old. I found one this morning on the path outside, still alive & he was getting quite agro when I walked out then.

We had them in the tree last year & they lost both young ones.

Magpie Larks swoop?! I never knew that one before, lucky to have them, beautiful shots of them, we have some turtle spotted doves nesting in our tree, I just hope the cats don't get them!

Hi Amateur,

Yes, they do swoop, but not as aggressive as large magpies. They don't get as close as maggies do & it only seems to be when their young are fully covered with feathers, but not quite ready to fly.

Back 15 year plus ago when we had another couple of dogs they use to swoop those two, but not the dog we have now. They have only been swooping on me, not anyone else.

If you stand there looking at them they won't come in to close at all, but make a hell of a warning noise though. Interesting to watch them & hear them out there at times.

I think they still have one left in the nest.

Cheers

Hi All,

A couple of photos, Magpie Lark keeping an eye out. Mostly watching me, as soon as I took my eyes off him he swooped

Feeding time, not a real good shot this one
