Will it ever stop raining in Hobart! ... In spite of it I decided to get out to see how our feathered friends are faring. I caught this pair warbling away and wondered whether they are M & F or are they both M? They flew off together so maybe they were a couple. Who knows?

HI Tark
Nice shops of the pies was he flying away or at you.LOL
Love the in flight shot.....
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
Well done Tark. Tark Male magpies have white backs, females have black and white backs.
Being an ex Tassie i always log on this link to see what weather you guys are getting. http://www.rosebay.tased.edu.au/camera.htm
Mate i used to miss the old pontoon bridge would always get a good feed of fish from there,.
Nice, particularly the flight shot. You can send some of that rain to Melbourne. No-one here will complain.
Cheers,
George

Good job to get photos in the rain. We have had sun and 19oC - most unlike winter (but I'm not complaining!). By the way, I hope the pies aren't those horrid pea floater things you told us about.
*dingo, not as close as she looks mate! ... at least I think it's a she from what Raoul has just said. And didja mean "shops" or "shots"? ... if it was "shops", then wot pie shop? Not the Adelaide pie cart again!
.
*Birdgirl, well Oly Cams are splash proof (so Oly says) - but I really haven't found out to what extent as yet! And you'll have to ask dingo about the pies, sis!
.
*Hev, I wasn't expecting the in flight shot to work, I just got lucky with that one mate.
.
*Thanks George - not necessary to send rain to Melbourne - there are more Melbournians living here now than Taswegians mate. Can tell by the licence plates and drivers with only one head ... they're weird!
.
*Raoul, thanks for that info on magpie gender ID. Yes, that Rosebay High webcam is a good way for expats to keep an eye on our weather.
As for fishing, I can remember when the bridge pontoons were towed into place and joined over several weeks. Now you'd need a longer line mate, although maybe not too many fish in the river to catch nowadays! My dad built a shack at Howrah, and before the bridge we used to go over with the car on the old Lurgerina or the Risdon punt by the Zinc Works.
