I went to Ash Island yesterday and saw some masked lapwings (and one saw me!). I found another model aircraft club and noticed that here as well as at East Maitland birds of prey often fly near the aircraft.

Masked lapwing and bird of prey
Lol, that Plover is ssizing you right up Birdgirl.
HI Birdgirl
Really nice shots don't get to close to those lapwings and is that a (Gashawk) in the back ground.LOL
I won't get too close; the children and I have been bombed a few times ... and they don't give up in a hurry. Thanks for the id on the little wheeled bird - it sure was noisy!
Nice shots of the lapwings birdgirl, and flying near aircract those birds of prey are punching above their weight - although they have been known to bring an airplane down I guess.

Here's one taken with a Canon last year. Not sure whether this was a female hatching an egg or what?

That is a great shot. I wouldn't dare get so close
Thanks sis, actually wasn't that close, the long lens just made it look that way
