By the way Hev.... those wrens would have been more gorgeous with an image stabilising lens!!! Haven't tried the monopod yet, it seems a bit cumbersome, and besides I just don't have it on me on my morning walks!! Besides these I saw Rufous FT, some thrushy looking bird ,Lewin's HE and heard catbirds, and whipbirds. the whipbirds were so close and there were several pairs of them but do you think I could even catch a glimpse of them? They would have to be the shiest bird ever and so clever at camouflaging themselves.
Forgot this one, not the best shot but I just couldn't get him to sit still for long enough.
By the way Hev, today at work I saw a pair of red backed fairy wrens up close and personal and of course I didn't have the camera. They were exquisite little birds.
ah my favourite at the moment...a rufous fantail...such a challenge. well done.
as for the red backed fairy wrens...you really are going to have to take your camera into work and when the others are having 'smokos' you will have to take a 'birdo' and get some pics!
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
I have an IS lense birdie,I still need to keep my shutter speed up although my wife seems to get away with more than I do. Try the monopod.I have a home made one that I used to use but found I prefer to use my folded trypod as a monopod so I also have it with me to use when I need to. You are right but, you will miss a few shots because of the cumbersome nature of any camera support so you need to weigh it all up.
OMG Birdie, those wrens are gorgeous..... just give up your job and dedicate to bird walks and taking pics for us all!!

I think the third pic might be a Little Shrike thrush, as I now realise I got two birds mixed up and this one was quite a lot larger than the others.
