Sorry Tas and sis - I almost missed your threads as the forum is really rocking and threads are moving down the page so fast, so thanks to you both. Well Tassie, as the matter of fact our av. temps for the past two months or more have been 10-15'C above normal, but also we've had the wettest winter on record.
.
Birdgirl - not sure whether it was his wife or not, I can't see any difference that would identify one as female -0 indeed I didn't know what gender this bird was until you told me indirectly. Well here's a pic I rescued from the trash as it isn't good. Maybe they're just gay?
I was hoping this would not be raised.
.
There is a theory that Galah sexes can be told apart by the colour of the skin around the eye. Grey for the male, and pink for the female.
.
I say it is a theory as BiBY does not mention it, and I have seen a long debate about this on the COG bird forum. If any of you has the relevant HANZAB volume, you might tell us what they say there.
.
On the basis of this theory, Tark, in your last image, the lower bird is the female and the top bird the male.
.
Cheers
Denis
Hi Tark
It is the eye colour itself - it is very easy to see in any pair. The male has black eyes and the female has red eyes. You can see it in your last photo
Good ones mate, I cannot help but notice that all of your subjects today look frozen.
I like them very much, even though they are common. Was his wife with him?

Ah ... thanks for that sis. I did notice something different about the eyes but it didn't occur to me that that is the difference between the F & M.
