I have ventured in a different direction (uphill) looking for those elusive channel bills. Instead I found these and although some are not the clearest picture quality, I love the splashes of colour that flash by so fast. it is what makes living here so attractive.
Such as this ...
Finally got close to these delightful chattery Pale Headed Rosellas
Couldn't tell if this was a koel or a drongo from a distance, but once I read the nesting habits I realised it was a spangled drongo as it had been sitting on the nest not raiding it!!

Hi Birdie
Well done, I agree, sometimes a picture may not be technically 'good' but it can tell a story or just be a flash of colour/movement that says...in this case 'Rainbow Lorikeet'.

Nice ones Birdie, thanks for sharing,I am yet to see a Topknot.
Hi Birdie, it's great to see birds in other areas of Oz that you don't get to see in the flesh, courtesy of this website and people like yourself good enough to share :)
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
HI Birdie
love the shots the black bird is a drongo beside the nest nice shot not easy to find.
Top Knots wow!! And then you get a drongo's nest shot. Awesome. Thanks for posting

Nice range of birds on your uphill walk, Birdie. You're right about the Rainbows. There's nothing more enjoyable than watching them streak overhead on a summer's evening with the setting sun igniting their chest and underwing colours.

Hi guys, glad you enjoyed them. I can't believe that it hadn't occurred to me earlier to head up the hill for better shots. I live in the very bottom of a valley that is filled with semi rainforest woodland vegetation. I am always moaning htat the birds are too high up the gum trees . I heard the channel bills and thought I'd get higher to see things from a 'birdseye view" (pardon the pun there). I nearly dropped the camera when I realised I was at canopy height for some trees down the slope and came across the drongo sitting on its nest!! :'D
Similar thing with the rosies, I heard them chattering closeby but couldn't see them so I raced up the smaller hill on the south side of our property and was so busy gazing out into the trees that I nearly missed it sitting right in front of me on a smaller shrub.
I'm pretty happy with the variety that's for sure.
Cheers
