I watched this Striated Thornbill today, (pretty sure thats what it is, please tell me if im wrong) going back & forth from its nest, picking up pieces of squashed paper. It did not care that i was there it just went on its way lining its nest.

Nest building with paper.
It does look like paper! I don't think it's a good choice, it will get wet in the rain. You could have taken it off the little one, it would have looked for something else. She looks so sad with that man made rubbish!!

Its whole nest wasnt made of the paper, it was using other things............
if your happy when your birding, flap your wings.
How cute is that shot mrT??? Lovely little creature..... it is normal for them to use soft fibrous stuff in the middle of their nests araminta. I found a noisy miner nest that was lined with either cotton wool or dacron type stuff in the centre . It is lovely to see the birds of all type flying through the air with twigs and straw in their beaks at the moment.

I know, that's why I don't pick up the dog's winter coat when I brush them. The birds love it, sometimes they fly off with huge bundles of fluff.Nice and warm lining for their nest!!
