New Camera

My new camera arrived today (Fujifilm HS20 EXR), I was at 1st a little disappointed in it but after playing around with it for a bit I started getting better. It's a steep learning curve from the old Canon.

The same family of black ducks from my previous post but with the new cam.

One of the ducklings cropped out of the same pic.

Crested Pigeon in the back yard.

Dusky Moorhen.
My biggest problem with the camera so far is the pics look great until you blow them up then they look smeared as if they're a water colour painting. Turning the noise reduction down to its minimum setting seemed to help that. Other problem is trying to focus with the long focal range. No button for that, just need steadier hands.

Have fun learning and take it nice and slow. I got a new camera this year and am ashamed to say I don't know much more now than I did in the first week I got it.

They look good Triker. I would just resist the urge to crop too heavily if it were me. Does the longer focal length use image stabilisation? Havent looked up what the camera is so am just curious.

Hi Birdie, yes it uses IS at the longer focal lengths but I have menier's disease which means I have the sense of balance of a new born calf. I'm going to try some shots with a tripod next week and see how it goes.

keep in mind that with these super zooms the longer you zoom out the lower the megapixels, you still have to get close to get nice sharp images even with top of the range gear, love your black duck shot.
I use a monopod and find it helps a lot especially with longer lenses
