Today I went back camera in hand to the nest I discovered at Mooloolaba. On arrival there were 3 birds there, not sure if one was a juvenile or if they were sharing a mate. I have read that that doesn't happen in Australia and if anyone knows about their breeding habits I'd look forward to some enlightenment. I am sure they have eggs as there is always a parent there.
Taken from a distance and cropped heavily here is a shot showing the third bird...notice the swallow that likes living dangerously too.I think they only like fish though.

Great shots Birdie. What a sight it must be thanks heaps for putting the pics up
Very jealous birdie, Love my birds of prey. Dont get the osprey down in mexico, well not that l've seen. Very large nest. Got some very nice pics.
Thanks guys, and Reckless from what I've seen you have no need to be jealous of our birds up here! I love the Ospreys, they were my first BOP that I caught on film...albeit blurry and I hadn't a clue at the time what it was!

I had no idea the nests were so big.
Wow you are lucky! and you will easily find them when you want to take more shots - no hiding a nest that size!
My neighbour was telling me the story of the relocation yesterday..... don't know how I missed it ... I am so touched and amazed at the care taken..... they even reconstructed it for them :')

Just realised we had only just landed back from NZ so probably wasn't looking as it was in 2007.

Birdie the relocation story is lovely; thanks for posting your photos and the link to the story. Nice to know there are caring people out there. And how awesome that the birds are still using the nest.
I'm staying at Noosa for a few days in October, specifically to look for birds. I'm staying near the Noosa National Park so will do a few walks. Hopefully I'll see some Ospreys.
Andy.
Hi Andy, I am glad you enjoyed it. Things like that make me glad to be alive and living where we do. Hey you probably have company for your Noosa walks already but if not and you would like to meet up
.... I'd be happy to have someone to go birding with. I have no friends who are into it locally and Heva1 can confirm that I come minus the axe or any other nasty stuff!!!! I still remember your request for someone to go to the Boondall Wetlands LOL
If you want to you can email me at
cheers

Hey Birdie,
I would love to meet up for a walk! I didn't want to ask and be rejected for the 2nd time ;-) so I just thought I'd mention that I would be at Noosa.
I will email you.
Andy.
This is great birdie. Thanks for the link to the articles. It's great to see people takING the trouble to help - like when animal rescue spends 3 days getting a dog out of a mine shaft
