For Owen

This is a full body (no crop) shot of an Australian Owlet-nightjar, a real cutie of the nocturnal bird world. Not easy to track down from their calls, as they are a rather small bird, about as small as a Noisy Miner and they sit still. I have been able to track the last few down through the forest from their calls. :-)

Thanks Windhover, I have only seen a bit of the head in a hole before. Very interesting to see!

Thanks very much Akos. Incredible shots in the gallery. I've looked through your gallery before but somehow missed this section so thanks for that.

Cheers, Owen.

That is a cute little bird. You are really dedicated and patient to find so many nocturnal birds

That is a gorgeous bird - wonderful shot. Even though they are an entirely different animal, the "expression" on the Owlet-nightjar reminds me of a pigmy possum.

Thank you guys, appreciate the kind comments. I love nocturnal wildlife and could spend the rest of my life "studying" and photographing them. :-)

Owlet night jars need lots of hollows in dead trees. Another good reason for not tidying up my garden!
