Pacific Gulls

Went to Queenscliff today, didn't have a good day, almost all my photos turned out "very bad"! Anyway,(although blurry), here are some:

...and some far away Pelicans, flying in a formation, a bit like fighter planes.

Bad days make you appreciate the good ones! M-L

Great shots M-L. Love the crab ones especially...right timing there that is for sure.

These are fantastic shots M-L, never seen a pacific gull, let alone see one catch a crab!

Nothing wrong with any of these, M-L. Don't you love the beak on those Pacific Gulls?

Great shots. I love the one with the crab and the flight shots are good.

Cheers, Owen.

Terrific shots especially with the catch as well.

The Pelican shot reminds me of when we were out in the boat one day and nine Pelicans flew towards us, just above our heads, it was an overwhelming sight.

The pacific gull shots are great. I would rather see those than a perfect portrait of a bird doing nothing

Presume that the Pacific Gull shots are Queenscliff in Sydney, or maybe Melbourne?

There was a Pacific Gull at Doyles Seafood Restuarant at Watsons Bay (Sydney) the other weekend.

When I was at sea in the 1970's the crew used to refer to them as South Pacific Gulls, or "South Pakkers", they would hover around the stern of the ship at sea waiting for the cook to heave the galley scraps over the side.

I used to sit on a deck chair sometimes, at the stern, watching the Wandering Albatrosses soaring and wheeling aft of the ship in our wake. Very majestic bird.

Hi Raven, the photos were taken at Edwards Point, Queenscliff, on the Bellarine Peninsula.(close to Geelong)
I wouldn't mind having dinner at Doyles though!!!I could eat some very majestic Lobster! LOL

Araminta, you bring your credit card and I will gladly take you to Doyles for a feed. Personally, I think it's a very over rated fish and chip shop!

The Silver Gulls will relieve you of any food you cannot finish too!
