This Oyster catcher was quite unconcerned by the hunting Osprey the other day and went about his business quietly down on the rocky shore. brilliant colours in the eye and the bill.

Very nice Birdie. the trick is to get a bit lower towards the bird's eye level to create a more intimate composition. Easy to say, hard to do. But try it! :)
BTW, the Osprey will take a fish rather than a bird and I think the birds know it.
Point taken Akos, but at the time I was between Osprey shots and I was up on the bank and the Oyster catcher was about 10 feet below across sharp shell rocks !!! They are a fine looking bird though with the contrasting colours, we used to get a lot in NZ as I lived on a tidal mudflat estuary.
BTW I saw the Osprey again today and am about to view the shots... am totally confused about which one I was actually shooting last week now, as the mother came and gave the juv the fish then flew off. People today told me that in the mornings both parents can be found down there with the young bird and they sit on each side of the low tree with it in the middle feeding.
No surprises as to where I will be one morning this week :)

Nice bird. We get the sooty oystercatchers here. I meant to say the other day I don't take many seabirds because I'm afraid of getting salt all over my lens (like on my sunglasses and car after a day at the beach)
