After a tip-off from a friend in WIRES who does raptor rehab specifically I found (EASILY, after good directions) a pair of adults near Winmalee, NSW. There may have been fledged owlets but on dusk we heard no begging at all and the two adults flew high into a tree from their Melaleuca roost and then took off probably to hunt.
Aren't they just gorgeous birds? lovely shots. The last one is my favourite...he looks quite grumpy!
I was watching'my' family yesterday in the park, for two nights now I can only see three, one of the adults seems missing...hopefully in another tree that I haven't spotted. One of the juveniles was 'snacking' on something in it's talon, they are fascinating to observe, I have permanent neck ache these days!
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
LOL Hey Hev.... I think all birdwatchers should take out neck insurance!!!!
They are beautiful Akos, and I love the dusky one with the blue sky in particular.
Sunshine Coast Queensland
what great pics, the last one has must be a teenager by the looks - quite a bit of attitude!
Very nice shots Windhover.
Thanks for looking and the comments.
