Awesome! I, too, have never seen them. I didn't know their abdomen was so pale. Haven't seen that before with other lorikeets.
Cheers, and thanks for putting these photos up,
Scott.
Thanks Owen, don't you think this time of the year there will be busses full of school kids and tourists? (Had a look at their promos, people everywhere). Won't be any wild birds? Might as well go to Healesville to see creaming children and yelling parents. Tell me if I'm wrong. M-L
Thanks, narly. I'd certainly expect to see them there, except, perhaps, around Golden Grove where developers have planted lots of exotic trees in place of the native vegetation which once existed there.
There are usually lots of people at Serendip M-L, but they usually stick to the main track and areas away from that track around the wetland have no-one.
I'm in Valley view to be exact Woko . My property backs on to the Dry Creek linear park . So when the creek starts to dry up I start getting some different vistors .
They're darling little things aren't they? :) love how they tilt their heads and squint their eyes like that. Great shots very adorable

Amazing how they blend in with the colours of the tree. Haven't seen them before, are they common where you live? M-L
& nice to hear from you Taz( holidays?)!

Hi Marie-Louise! It's great to be back. For me, no more exams! No more high school! So happy :D Hope everyone's been doing well too.
Taz
They're probably around more than I think . They blend in so well as you say and are reasonably quiet .

Beautiful birds and well captured in the foliage - I also have not seen these before. Thanks for sharing.

Purple-crowned lorikeets tend to be seen in the drier country. What location, narly?

Nice series of a great bird.
M-L Serendip Sanctuary in Lara is very reliable for them, near they Bustard enclosure.
Cheers, Owen.
