You could sit under a dark sheet near the nest and take some photos as they come close. They will usually sit (land) on a "last" perch as a final check for predators before entering the nest. Once you find the perch, you are on the right track. They will eventually get used to you sitting under a sheet (hopefully).
Oh yes! I know I am lucky to have the RBEs so close. I could see them from the kitchen window this morning but knew that as soon as I opened the back door they would be off.
