Scaly-breasted lorikeet

I haven't ventured out of the yard today, although it was a perfect day. I now have a nice strong case from Jaycar to put the camera in. I love the extra detail I can see in the feathers. It is what I was looking for. In my RAW images I took the other day I can see droplets of water on the feathers and the feather detail through them.

They look great Birdgirl..... no bird will be safe from your prying lens now will they?? LOL
The extra detail you get from using a Pro lens is incredible. Everything just seems to pop out at you after amateur stuff . Once you get used to it then you can loosen up and try it on lots of stuff like Ed said. You have a good composition range in that lens, though I know you had a great zoom before too.
How about a little challenge?? See how close you can get that amazing red eye ring and give us some really good detail ! I love those eyes!!!!

Keep it up !

birdgirl, what make and model of camera and lens do you use - just out of interest.
the photos are superb so it must be one hell of a good camera.

Cheers, Owen.

Don't be. I learned today that I am just as capable of taking boring/blurry/badly exposed photos as I was before!
btw birdie I will definitely take up your eye challenge - today I just didn't have the chance. It would be fun to have a challenge like this each week/forntnight/month eg most interesting eye/food/feeding/courtship/whatever.

When we get the new forum software up and running , I am hoping we can do some stuff like this. I have talked to Holly about it as long as we treat it as fun and it doesn't get all serious and competitive like some other sites then I think we will all get a lot out of it.

Hopefully the new Forum will get up and running soon .... poor Holly ...hint hint :')

Got the subtle hint birdie ;)

Looks like I am finally going to get to migrate website content starting this week but it is a massive job that I think will take me weeks if not a month or more. The forum will be up and running with the new site. I will get it done as quickly as I can - both for your sanity and mine :)

I love the idea of challenges too - will look forward to running some.

Nice eye...Birdgirl...I hadn't noticed how much grey brown there was form the wider shots either!

Holly....you can fly me down for a month and I'll help do it for you ;')

Would love a trip to Sydney and I hear there are a few good birders down that way LOL
