We went to great lengths chasing two of these around on a site near Wyndham, spent over an hour with the little blighters wandering causally away from us whenever we approached, eventually got a couple of good photos, then went to a caravan park in Port Hedland and there they were wandering happily around the park getting under our feet! Most frustrating! That is a nice clear shot you have there. Do you live up in the Territory, or were you on holiday? We lived there for many years and only took a casual interest in birds, now we are in Logan City (south of Brisbane) and wish we had paid more attention - have to drive for days to see some of the birds we could have had on our doorstep!
Great pic Scott, lovely colours. Glad to see you have mastered the peculiarities of this posting system ....it will all change soo with a new forum ...worth it though to see your lovely pics
Cheers :)
Meave - I live in Hobart. Was just there on holidays for 2 weeks in June this year, traveling around in a campervan. Is such a GREAT place for birds, I couldn't believe it. You should go back now!! It is funny though, when you spend ages trying to get a photo of a bird in crappy light or when they're constantly moving away from you, and then you get to a town / camping area and find them out in the open! In new territory though, you never know if you're going to see them again and get the chance for a better photo!! You've got to try when you can!
Scott.
My family went on a huge trip around Australia 9 years ago. My brother, sister and I would have lots of fun chasing these guys around the spinifex
Lovely photo Scott. Shows the plumage really well.
