Another shot of the same pair of young from 2008. My mate let me borrow an 800mm Canon lens that costs as much as a house deposit so I whacked my Canon 2x converter on it. I was 37m from the nest and this is taken at 1,600mm focal length, with the camera's crop sensor making it the same field of view as a lens of (1,600 x 1.6) 2,560mm. So very long. :-) This is almost a full frame image. Note both chicks are swallowing small nestlings here. :-(

Beautiful sharp photos from such a distance. I can well imagine the price after seeing what the 500 and 600 mm lenses cost. You are very lucky he was willing to share!
