A swift parrot which landed on the ground quite close while I was trying to get shots of them in the trees. Taken in December 2010. These are endangered and visit Tasmania in spring and summer.

Aren't you lucky to see such a good looking parrot. They must be hard to find to. your shot is awesome. Never seen better of a swift parrot.

Thanks. We have a small number of parrots compared to the mainland but most are very attractive birds. I had only ever seen swifts a couple of times before and could not believe my luck when this one came so close....nor could I adjust anything much on the camera in the excitement. All I could do was hold down the trigger!
