Over the long weekend we took a trip to the Tarra Valley in Gippsland.
The highlight of the trip was a walk through the Tarra Bulga National Park, where we were lucky enough to witness a male lyrebird in full display mode, calling and dancing his heart out for about half an hour.
Sadly his mound was on the other side of a gloomy fern glade from us, and we were limited in what we could see, but the show was certainly worth it. I did manage these two photos, taken in very dim light.

We stayed near Yarram in a B&B on a 50 acre block and saw these birds in the grounds:

Sorry - some formatting problems above, and I can't figure out how to edit the OP.

arent you lucky to see a displaying lyrebird. i only ever hear them
Cheers, Owen.
Looks like a lovely trip, just wondering where are the Red Wattlebird's wattles? Also a lovely photo of the immature Crimson Rosella, I can remember the first time I saw them I had absolutely no idea as to what they were, amazing the colour changes that birds can undertake when developing their adult plumage.
What a beautiful series Ringneck and such a variety. love the Lyrebird..from any angle as I have never seen one.
YOu cannot edit your old posts with this software sorry, but we are waiting for a new Forum to be uploaded over hopefully the next few weeks which should see some improvement s such as that. Also when you post here you need to resize to 500 on the longest edge. Otherwise you crop on the right as you can see here. Oh and I love the light shining through the King Parrots tail feathers.
Cheers

Great collection of photos but the one of the lyrebird's tail is particularly good - so few of us have seen one. It must have been fantastic to see his song and dance
