When the images are displayed in the white background they do look washed out. I've just tried copying and pasting your images across into a photo editing program with a darker background, and they look sharp there.
You can click on the image and it will open in a "lightbox" with a darker background - and the colours really pop out when you do that.
We're in touch with Holly about these issues and will keep you posted.
the link images that appear on these pages have an opacity style applied to them of 0.9. This is what is causing the "washed out" look. I'm sure it is easily fixed! (I'm sure I could fix it in 5 minutes, given access to the code!)
We've removed the 'greywashing' opacity value from the web site. I think it looks better, but I've now been looking at these images for a while now - I think that the Pelican shot is burned onto my eyeballs!
Thanks to Soakes for the help, and feel free to put up any comments around - we'll be monitoring the forums, especially the General one, to see what we can do to help Holly and the team in this transition.
The photos in these forums (fora?) are all pretty amazing. At least one of us "behind-the-scenes nerds" are also birdos and we'll likely be joining the forums under our own personal accounts too, so we can share our photos as well.
Now, is this where we can post to try out things? now let's see, I know what this one should look like. I think it is sharp? M-L

In my opinion it still has this grey wash over it. If I can, I try one more, please

Why do the pics look totally washed out? What is the site doing to the pics?
exactly the same result, the colours look nothing like on the original. It's not only grey, but also blue. Any comments are wecome. M-L

I'm already getting eye strain from the white background.

It also looks different between Chrome and IE - Chrome looks washed out, IE doesn't.
Hey everybody,

At least one of my photos has a "lasting effect" on someone . Sorry, as this photo is also my avatar. Do you want me to change it? LOL

You're right Holly. Chrome makes it look washed out but with Internet Explorer its fine.
Cheers, Owen.
