Top End birds

We had a fantastic holiday in the Top End recently and there are so many wonderful birds there. Here are some of the best I came up with.

The trip gave me a good opportunity to get to grips with my new 100-400mm zoom, but the results were a bit mixed. I struggled to get the exposure right sometimes, so please forgive the ones that are too dark. And do please let me know if I've got any identifications wrong.

Broad-billed Flycatcher

Little Bronze-Cuckoo

Yellow Oriole

Rose-crowned Fruit Dove

Varied Triller

Comb-crested Jacana and baby

Black Kite(?)

White-winged Triller

Bar-breasted Honeyeater

Shining Flycatcher

Collared Kingfisher(?) and lunch

Crimson Finch

Golden-headed Cisticola

Sandstone Shrike-Thrush (a poor shot, but it was a long way off)

Those shots are great and amazing range. so many i haven't seen before. Your Kite could be a Whistling Kite but don't know for sure.

Cheers, Owen.

Spectacular shots of a great variety of birds in mid-action as well as very descent portraits. Love the Jacana and its Baby, very nice.
Never seen any of these birds in real life. Must be a wonderful trip. :D
