I drove to a new spot to have a look around, after 3hours walking got back to the car a bit disappointed, while packing up the gear i saw a red flash on the other side of the road ,it was a group of flame robins on the other side of a fence to far to get a good shot but i tried anyway then one of the males flew straight up to me and posed for a couple of photos 5m away and then flew back,as i turned to leave there was a scarlet robin in the tree watching me,a good day after all !
nice robins, sparrow.........
if your happy when your birding, flap your wings.
What a great end to the day, sparrow. I have been spectacularly unsuccessful with the Flame Robins this year. Where were yours taken? Thanks for sharing.

The photos were taken at Roses Gap in the Grampians about 40k from where i now live.
Good ones, sparrow. It's no wonder people become addicted to bird watching. No rewards for quite a while & then, suddenly, there they are. Flame robins!!
Which leads me to report that yet again flame robins have passed us by here on the south eastern slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges.(Poor us!) I've seen 1 in about the last 7 years & I guess they're on the verge of extinction here.
In my neighbourhood there are quite a few revegetation projects slowly maturing with open paddocks between. This would or will be in a couple of years suitable habitat for flame robins so it'll be interesting to see what happens.
What great photos!
