Most of you will remember the nest I had, and that the Kookaburra ate the swallow babies. Now, there are new babies in the nest. Here they are:
here comes mum
open wide
yes, like that
your turn next
some cleaning to be done
wave to me, I will come back soon
aren't they cute? Enjoy, M-L
They are just gorgeous M-L. thanks so much for taking the trouble and putting them up. Lovely study of them and their behaviours

Thanks for sharing. I hope these little ones have better luck
Yes Birdgirl, I hope their luck didn't run out today. I'm not so sure if the parents made a good choice, when they constructed the nest under the tin roof? The temperature went up to 30 degrees today. It would have been so hot under the roof? Hope they will be fine tomorrow!?
I'm posting one more photo, look at the tail feathers of the swallow, have never seen it unfolded like that!

Great series and love the colours. The tail feathers are interesting, thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Owen.
Good shots, Araminta. They're obviously not disturbed by your presence, gentle soul that you are.
I think welcome swallows are known for nesting several times during a season. About 12 years ago they built a nest on top of a pergola post & raised 3 broods.
The gentle soul and I were hiding behind a Van, the camera perched on the edge of the roof.I took about 100 photos. I was stuck behind the car for so long, that my arms fell asleep and I could hardly feel them anymore. It was worth the pain!!
The young lived through the heat, and the parents are still feeding. Last year's nest is empty, it would have been in a much better position, but what do I know, I'm not a bird.

I took this photo today.(not very good, it was very dark and foggy, sorry). The babies are so big now, that mum doesn't fit anymore, so she sits next to the nest to keep an eye on them. If you have a good look , you can see a fluffy ball in the nest. I think it won't take much longer, and the little ones will be off. Good luck, have a good life you two! M-L
