Bird of Prey Day

I took Karlbob out to my favourite canefield/swamp area and we were just spoilt for choice with the BOP

BLack Shouldered Kite

One of many Black Kites cruising around

The wonderful and very awesome looking Spotted Harrier ... we have found a field where they hunt as a pair every day smiley

Not a great shot but it shows how they hover low over the long grass waiting to swoop on their prey

Thanks George, I had the pleasure of using my friend's 70-300L lens for the day so I was able to crop a bit and still get a good shot. Those Harriers are a real challenge as it is always in the afternoon that they come out hunting and the sun is in the west behind their favourite spot :)

Yes Kim.... I just pop out there every few days to see what is around..the Harriers seem to be a constant :)  We flsuhed some quail while we were concentrating on the Harriers so I would like to get them too as I have never seen any.

Thanks Kim and M-L!  Kim you must drive up this way one day , I'll show you my BOP spots if you promise to show me yours when I get down to the Hunter next !!

Karl..... your shots were great and  when you get a better grip on handling the 500 length your shots will outdo these believe me.  Like I said to you 300 is an easier focal length to work with and remember this was with an L lens ... it makes such a huge difference to the results. But it is better to get the shot in frame than to have to rely on the crop to bring it up smiley That is where your lens will prove itself.

Darin .... just for you and a few others I will post some shots in the social column that will give you a laugh . Yes it was a good day out but the day before was just great.

Cheers
