Happy Monday everyone.
Well I am ok to admit that last week's challenge wasn't great - but we live and learn. I tried it, and now know not to again
So lets get back to a photo heavy challenge. This week lets see how many parrots we can get posted. I will open it up to all parrots (so including the rosellas, cockatoos etc).
The guidelines:
- Each species can only be posted ONCE
- Each poster can only post one species per post, and they must wait for two other people to post before joining in again
Who will get us started? And which species will be first?
I thought last weeks challange was funny and light hearted.
Good for a bit of a change. I particularly liked Annies post with the welcome swallows fogetting the aniversary.
Cheers
Devster

Regent Parrot
I'm not sure what sort of parrot this was to be honest. I think it is an Eclectus Parrot but am prepared to be corrected. Nailed the focus on this one but need to learn how to increase the amount of in focus. Pretty sure even AnnieJ would have kept this one.

Where was that taken?
Red-tailed Black Cockatoo (Does this count?)
A cheaky Gang Gang Cockatoo eating a nut.
M-L
Reflex, your bird is not an Eclectus Parrot. I have photos of a male and a female. I can post them when it's my turn again. I'll have to wait 2 posts

A hard bird to photograph Elsie. I have heaps of photographs of this bird that seems to know how to keep just out of range!

One of the Orange-bellied Parrots at Healesville. They had great success last year in breeding this endangered species, and are releasing some into the wild. Good luck little beauties, and avoid those nasty cats.

I am running out of locals not already used, so.....
Indian Rose-ringed Parakeet

Palm Cockatoo from Bramwell station in Cape York.
Look how well they blend in with the red leaves on these trees.

Blue Bonnet - a flighty bird for me so I am pleased with the pics I get

There are a few left from my area, will look for them in due time. But here is a Red-rumped Parrot . Taken in my local Park.

Redwing parrot from Mt Surprise in (I think) a Queensland Bottle tree. Sue
Seeing nobody has posted anything for more than 12 hours, I think it's safe for me to have a go again?
The little Musk Lorikeet says: go away, you are not my mother.

Alexandrine Parrot
Cockatiel - male and female
Peter
Sorry Sue, I didn't see your post of the Budgies. (well, I've done it again, I did not intend to)
Holly can remove.
M-L
Thanks ML got it
I guess I can post again ? This one was not taken in the wild. It was at Healsville Sanctuary. That makes me think it might be a rare Parrot? I think it's a Superb Parrot ? Are they an endangered bird?
M-L
M-L yes, that is a male Superb Parrot, very aptly named; like many of our parrots they have declined with habitat loss but are common locally in the right areas; I had a number of sightings during my 9 months in Parkes; Boorowra NSW has signs saying that it is in Superb Country or similar; actually I suggest that you GoogleMaps Boorowra and then street view and look for the 'Superb Bakery' - they actually sell Superb Pies (a bit overrated in my opinion)
Peter
We have quite a few in Canberra if you need some

Not my photo but I just thought it worth posting. White Corella inspecting the webcam at Outer Harbour Port Adelaide
Thanks Devster, it seemed to fit with their expressions - that one (amusing captions) is an ongoing challenge popped up by (member) Richman, I think Holly was meaning last weeks (site) Bird of the Week Challenge... boy that looked tricky! Good job everyone who joined in. I had no hope joining in that one with terrible connection problems all week.
What a beautiful bunch of feathered lovelies so far this week! No surprises from me, a Tassie endemic, a Green Rosella of course .
West Coast Tasmania
Possibly a Tui parakeet
Mark
These live in a far corner of my property, they are very shy. I have not been able to get any good photos of them, they fly away as soon as they see me coming. Not like the Crimsons and the Kings. Who knows, one day .....
So here is one shot of an Eastern Rosella in my big garden.
M-L
Western Corella
Peter
There are quite a few different types of Corellas, this one is a Long-billed Corella sitting on a fence in my garden on its way to somewhere?
M-L
Scaly Breast Lorikeet
I think this one might be a young one due to lack of scaly feature.
Major Mitchell's Cockatoo

Great post. Love it!

Last minute post.
I know Rainbows have been done before - but this one is only for comparison with the hybrid Rainbow X Scaly Breast next to it.
