Some of the birds I photographed last year. I have only just dragged out some of my shots from the last 8-9 months. I just kept buying hard drives and storing my pics instead of going through them and processing them so I'll probably have quite a few over the next couple of weeks as I try and catch up.
1) Australian Pratnicole, a quiet little bird I found on the air strip at Mornington
2) Brolga, I saw a few of these at Winjana gorge.
3) Brown Quail, this was taken at the Broome WTP
Beautiful series. I especially love the quail. How the hell did you find one sitting still to get such a great photo?!!!
Cheers,
Scott.
Lovely sharp and well-lit shots, not to mention the insanely close distance from which you photographed them. I think you've previously mentioned that you often use a hide - is that correct? Can't wait to see what else you drag out from within your hard drive.

Awesome shots. Can't tell you how jealous I am of the Brolga having gone looking for them in the past without success.
Cheers, Owen.
Just beautiful Headsie! I actually love the first shot. The pranticole looks so serene and delicate - such soft eyes
Headsie you spoil us with your great photos and with a variety that most of us are envious about. The pratincole is a beauty and I have never seen one, and the quail well I don't know how you did it but it worked, so thanks for these and keep em commin.

Shane
Sadly, I cannot see the images for now. Will revisit soon. :-)
Beautiful shots mate. How the hell did you get that good shot of the quail? They're mongrels of things at the best of times as far as I've experienced.
Just had another look at these photos Headsie and they still leave me in awe. For some reason they seem to have more colour and sharpness to them this second viewing, which makes it even better.

Shane
Agree with everyone. Brilliant shots. My fave is the brolga
Thanks for the comments, George I didnt use the hide for these but I was up in a tree when I got the brolga and the quail just froze when I spotted so I just reeled off as many shots as I could. The pratnicole was a lucky one because I was sneaking up on a bustard and turned around to see the pratnicole just looking at me, I may have been close to its nest so I took a few shots and moved on.
Up a tree??? Well I can see why I don't get very good shots Headsie .... I don't have the technique right!! It is really interesting to read your desciption of how you got such amazing shots.

Thanks for the response, Headsie. Couldn't get very close to the Pratincoles when I was in Broome last year.

Awesome shots Headsie. The Brolga is stunning she would have to be my favourite.
