I was supposed to go Birding with Reflex on Sunday morning but a stomache bug put a stop to that.
By Sunday afternoon I was feeling a bit better and just wanted to get out of the house after sleeping for the majority of the weekend.
All of these photos (except for the Comb-Crested Jacana) I took from my car, which is good as I was still feeling a little lathagic.
It is amazing how much closer you can get in a vehicle.
The Apostlebirds were a first for me.
Great series of birds there and georgous backgrounds. Cracker shots.
Looks like the day was eventfull after all. The Apostlebirds was a good find.

cool shots! especially as you took them from a cargood job!
Great photos from the Mobile Bird Hide !
Thanks for the kind words guys.
Yes the mobile hides seem to work better
Fantastic shots Devster. Maybe I should try driving round my garden in the car if that's what results it can get!
Somehow I don't think it would work so well for me though....
Marvellous shots Devster, the drying Cormorant is just beautiful! Love a good old car hide - especially on wet windy (lazy) days . Hope you're feeling better.

Thanks Annie. Great to hear from you.
Have been missing your photos
I hope everything is ok with you.
Thanks Devster , I've missed being here! I have been a tad busy lately in my new (volunteer) role with Coastcare, and also simultaneously being trained as a Wildlife Carer - primarily Little Penguins and Shorebirds at this stage. Fun, rewarding, and lots to remember, and still lots more to learn. All good. Have loads of Penguin shots, and the usual cute bush birds, and was lucky enough to capture my elusive friend the Little Grassbird again recently - probably all you've already seen on flickr. I'll have to get myself more organised and get out and try and find some newies to share on here at some stage.

Spectacular shots, especially from a car. If you hadn't said I never would've picked it.
Thanks Owl, I have to admit I was surprised as well.
I drove right up to the edge of the lake and the birds just kept doing their thing.
Look forward to some of those penguin shots Annie. I bet they're cute little suckers.
Using a car as a form of a moblie hide has been fruitful for many photographers for decades I would think. It is a super way to get close to birds, which for some reason tend to not flee as quickly when you're in a vehicle. Some photographers drape a camo net over the window (secure it with the door) and stick the lens through the netting. A small bean bag resting on the window frame is a good support for all long lenses too whenusing slow shutter speeds.
