Black Kite

Here is a Black Kite (Milvus migrans) I managed to attract to my hide on Monday afternoon near Richmond in NW Sydney. It was quickly sent off by a pack of bastards, I mean Australian Ravens, who did a good job hassling most raptors away on the day. If you click the image, it will give an 1800-pixel version.

is it legal to attract raptors for purposes of closer views?

Don't know of any law stating it is illegal.

Very nice indeed. How did you enable the bigger photograph by clicking on it?

Fantastic flight photo.

The ravens are very diligent in trying to drive off raptors. Down in Richmond lowlands a few weeks ago I watched 10+ ravens disputing ownership of a tree with two whistling kites for 20 minutes or so before i moved on. The kites were certainly not going to give up and kept returning to the tree which appeared to have a old nest in it.

I know the tree - right on the river bank near the UWS paddocks; they've nested in it last year and one adult was sitting near the nest about a week ago. So it looks promsing.

Yes, once you place the pointer over the image, a hand should appear and clicking ought to open it in a new tab at full size for you to enjoy the high quality view. yes

So how do you do that?

I think that when you link the photo you can enable an option to open in a new window/tab. Cannot remember and when I went back to edit the shot to see how it is done, I could not see it. I'll try to remember when I post another image and let you know in detail, unless someone knows off the top of their head.
