Hi just hoping someone can help me identify a baby bird that a friend has found. I'm thinking it's a blackbird, but other people are saying it may be a starling. It was found in South Australia.

Starling , the yellow beak and the shape of the beak is different to that of a Baby Blackbird. Baby blackbirds are mottled brown, and the beak is not as yellow.

Thank you :) I wasn't sure since I have had lots of trouble finding images of baby birds. The yellow beak had me looking again and again lol.
What are you doing with it ?? You said a friend found it, most juveniles that you think are lost , actually are not lost, they are just waiting for their parents to come back. Now, this is not a native bird, but in general. or for the next time anyone finds a "lost?" chick, unless it is in danger of being eaten by a cat, dog or any other animal, or just about getting run over by a truck, just leave it where it is, or put it in a safer spot. Most of the time the parents are watching you, and just waiting to get back to feed their baby.

Given the huge problems caused by introduced species I wouldn't recommend placing the bird in this photo in a safe spot. However, Araminta's point in relation to native "lost" birds is valid.
I was just presented with photoes as they were asking what it was. I wasn't sure of the circumstances in which it was found. Found out later they got it off a cat... Unfortunate for the bird too it died not long afterwards. Personally I'm not too worried about introduced species and if they survive, but a friend asks and I try to help.
