I went to Coolum today for a walk up the dog beach with dog and camera. it was all a bit quiet apart from seeing the rainbow Bee Eaters I was looking for so I could tell Shane they were still there. On the way home I caught site of this awesome bird and had to pull in and check the little cove out where he was fishing
Suddeny there wa a flash of light in my viewfinder and I caught this
The cause of which was this Osprey who had snuck up and tried to kick him in the head 
What a thrill to see the action and it is always a delight to find the Brahminy suddenly appear around a headland cruising high over the shore.
Nice! I want to see the rainbow bee eaters too!

I wish I had more big birds/BOP where I live. I have the Wedged-tailed Eagle, he neaks up very quietly, but mainly high up in the air. I'd better stick to my small birds then?

Thanks everyone ... I was thrilled with the sighting and of course to catch the attack was just the icing on the cake. Don't worry Karl we will find some Rainbow Bee eaters, and I can tell you where to find them anyway .
Shane it was m,y pleasure to spend the day up there, it is a favourite spot of mine and I haven't been there hardly at all over the last year or so.

Yes karen, that is the Osprey after I had recovered and found it above me ..... I was so busy looking through the long lens at the time that I didnt realise what had actaully happened for a moment !
