Yes, well I have lived here in the same house for about 15 years now , recently I have been getting a visit from this lovely bird. Actually I had 2 in my backyard today. They are very timid birds unlike the laughing doves and spotted doves i get all day long. I am very fortunate that I live across from a park that has a tiny bit of bush on it and I have often seen them over there but never in my backyard until now. Just need a Brush Bronzewing to show up, that's not to much to ask now or is that just being greedy.
Gorgeous photos. The females, like the one in your photo are a little shy sometimes. But the ones I get at my place are not. I have one male that sleeps on top of my fridge all winter. I can get very close to them, sometimes have to take the short lens and almost tough their faces.
Like in this photo of the boy, the camera was about 50cm from his head. Hope you don't mind me posting this here? Just wanted to show how friendly and brave they are at my place.
Oh Peter how lovely and how lucky for you to get one. I really think it is wishful thinking one will turn up in my backyard but hey stranger things have happened . Thanks for sharing. M-L, i must say he is a beauty , hopefully the 2 females will enticed a male into my yard , no hope of getting that close though. Thanks for sharing also
She really is a beauty shoop. I love all these shots, especially though the first and third. The first because of the beautiful capture of movement in her wings, very angelic and the second because of the coy, over the shoulder, hollywood red carpet look, a gorgeous capture of expression. Fingers crossed for you the birds bring a boy over to play too, so you can capture them as beautifully as you have the girl(s).
Thankyou Ruby , I do get over excited when a new bird enters my backyard . It is so hard to pick which photos to post as I have taken so many of the same with only seconds in between waiting for the moment of splendor. Capturing that special moment of either their wings unfolded ( which, if you blink it's gone ) or a striking pose ( al la red carpet) to happen. I have honeyeaters going crazy also in the garden so they easily distract me , also maintaining my 2 dogs to sit still while i spend endless minutes/hours snapping away with my camera that at most times i wish had extra reach on it . Oh well what else can i say but ...Birds are my mediation and I love every minute of them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice,I have never been able to get close to these birds.

Thank you for sharing your photos of the Brush Bronzewing we have two of these which visit us twice a day and I had no
idea what type of bird it was until I saw your photos.
where are you located, jenny?
Here's a South Gippsland Bronzewing. We have two that have tacken up residence in our yard and don't seem to be very concerned about us at all.
