Spent a couple of hours today at a conservation park near Mudgeeraba. Highlight of the day was this Brown Cuckoo-Dove - a first for me. Quite a stunning bird.
Great find alcatraz, that would be a new one for me. Might have to get up that way and check out this park.
Hi Brian, This area is called Hinterland Regional Park, and is in Hardys Road, Mudgeeraba, off Springbrook Road. Excellent spot for birding and pretty big with lots of tracks and well over 100 species. Cheers.

Thanks alcatraz will put that on my list, only a bit over an hours drive so could make a day of it.
We have one of these tobacco plants by our fence and when the berries are ripe we have the brown cuckoo doves come every afternoon. They are beautiful birds.

Lovely bird with those rich browns ... one of the easier pigeons/doves to get close too, not so flighty as many others.
Nice photo, would be new for me too

Nice photos. I often see them in those type of plants. They must like them a lot.
