Took this today at my place in Kippa-ring, Qld.
Has a wing shape of a CSH. Not sure on the middle toe, looks long.
Thanks davethewonder for replying to my last post. I was waiting for more replies that never came and ended up forgetting to thank you.
Cheers

My favourite debate. Despite the notched appearance in the second photo, it looks like the outer tail feathers are shorter than the inner so I'd say Goshawk.
Owl of Kedumba, thanks for your reply.
Sorry about the lateness, but, waiting for more replies.
Looks like your debate turned into a fizzer.
I will leave it open as unsolved.
Thanks again.

Hi Paulsod
Yes I agree also! Brown Goshawk for this one. As Owl has said before, a common debate on these forums.
In my "personal" opinion (not supported or written anywhere), i've found that Sparrowhawks tend to be slightly smaller built, and tend to stick to cover in the trees and canopy, so when soaring like this one and maybe a little bigger in size, I often side with Goshawk (but again, that's just my personal observations).
Had a breeding pair of Sparrowhawks in the forrest behind our house. Always difficult to hunt-out and they were a little "skulky" hiding in the trees. When I lived in the country for a time, would often see the Goshawks soaring much like this one.
You're most welcome (in regards to your previous post).
Dave
