Looks like one to me in amongst a Wisteria vine. Plants in China have been known to live up to 250 years.

An interesting fact about Wisteria. Chinese wisteria (W. sinensis) twines counterclockwise while the Japanese variety (W. floribunda) is the opposite, twining clockwise.

Thanks Reflex for your reply. The purple flower is from a huge Jacaranda tree, yellow flowers are from another tall three next to it. They are not vines by the way.

And Jacaranda is a native of Peru, not Australia as some folk I know think.

Well there you go, fancy that. I didn't know that and I bet there are a lot of people in Grafton that don't either. The world-renowned Jacaranda Festival is held annually in Grafton, Northern Rivers New South Wales.

Jacarandas are going crazy in Adelaide at the moment.

Drive over the Cross Road overpass on South Road and the suburbs look like a sea of purple.

Add in all the rose festivals around the country & Dame Edna waving her gladdies, Reflex, & it's easy to see why Australia's beautiful natural environment doesn't rate much of a mention. We seem to be besotted with exotics.
