Saw two Brown Quails by the side of the road and heard lots more in amongst the grasses lining the orad. One of the two scurried off fairly quickly, but the other one stayed long enough for a few photos.

They look so cute.( The shape of them is a lot like that of my mother-in-law,small head, round and chubby in the middle, and very short legs. ) Nice pics.

Richard, I like your work! How do you get quail to sit still close enough to photograph them? About all I see is a brown flash. If I could photograph the sound they make as they take off I'd feel a little more satisfied.

We have recenty had them in our yard on the South Coast of NSW. I agree they usually move to fast for a photo. But all the same they have added to the vast birdlife we have down here. Surprisingly more than we had in our last home in the Blue Mountains.
