Walking on the beach today I found this little darling....sooo hard to take a picture of as it seemed to be suffereing from hyperactivity disorder !!!!
Am fairly sure it is a Brown Gerygone and they were hagning out with a Willy Wagtail ...just as well or I wouldnt have even seen them.
Oops forgot to hit upload the first time

A little sweetie. Sometimes we get lucky and get a shot of the real active birds, but my camera isn't the best for that sort of thing. This is a lovely pic.

I'm fairly sure this is a Brown Gerygone too. (.I thought I saw one yesterday hanging around with the Fantails, but when I saw it from the back, I noticed it was a female Golden Whistler.)
I wish I could have come on a walk along the beach with you to see those lovely birds. I just came back after 5 minutes out my back, I fled, my legs are being eaten by leeches. Any good advice how to avoid them?

Nice shot, what a little gem. I love the little birds its always a delight when you get a great shot.
ML try rubbing vulnerable areas with lotions such as tea tree oil-based creams as well as cream insect-repellants. Or just wear long pants tucked into your socks, that should keep the little suckers out.
You can come up here anytime M-L .... but I don't think you would find it as interesting as your own back yard somehow! This and the WW tail were the only birds I came up with that day. Every day and time of day is different in the hot weather down by the beach I find. I still find it hard to walk far so I just take what I can get and thank my lucky stars I got anything at all!!!

When I first got into birding I couldn't understand the attraction of goinng after these LBBs...... but they are fun adn very addictive as they are so much more of a challenge to even spot let alone capture on camera

Those leeches really suck, Araminta. I like Cath & Shane's idea of long trousers (& long-sleeved shirts, too). Somewhere in the depths of our medicine box there's a tube of Zylof, I think it's called. It's supposed to be good for relieving stings & other nasties but it's so long ago that I used it that I can't remember how effective it was. But prevention is better than cure.
Thanks for all your advice, they are nasty. My Doc said, they do not cause any infections, but my husband had been bitten by one on his finger. (I think Cath and Shane saw the bandage) He ended up having to go to hospital to have the huge blister cut open . Mind you, he has to scratch everything. Anyway, if it can be avoided, that would be good. I'll try anything.

Well done Birdie. I agree it's great to chase after little birds trying to get better shots.
Cheers, Owen.
Thanks Owen, yes we must like torturing ourselves :)

Hi Adrienne, I missed you accusing me of "hogging your thread". There is only one solution to this, start posting more often!!! Start chasing more of those little birds (as Owen said), I can't wait to see the "old birdie" back here. (message to all the new people, birdie and I are good friends, we do NOT attack others on this forum. At least not often? LOL)

I think any recent birds are on my dead laptop M-L ... I did back up some stuff a few weeks ago but there must be plenty of pics on there in the laptop graveyard unfortunately
