Taken today on Phillip Island. We were hoping to find Silver Gull babies, no luck. They have only now started to mate and build nests. (Took about 500 mating shots, will have to go back to find little ones soon)
But we found some gorgeous Cape Barren Goslings, not that little anymore, but still cute.
Hope you like them as much as I do
Naww, they're a bit funny-lookin, but very cute! :) Such a tiny little beak with a huge nostril.
Thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks windshear, they are at least about 2 weeks old, you can see the adult plumage on top of their heads.
(I also took some photos of Cape Barren Geese mating. Thinking if I should post them?)

They are so beautiful
How close did you get to them? Do you think that they are used to humans?
Lovely photos M-L
Excellent shots, M-L. I should have some baby shots soon, lots of birds nesting at the moment.

I was about 5m away from them, it was a family of parents and 4 little ones.
On Phillip Island Cape Barren Geese are even found walking on the side of the road and in paddocks.( One of very few places you will see them)
They don’t seem to mind cars or people, although they will walk away if you get too close. They don’t have any road sense though, they simply cross where and when they want.
In any case, this time of the year snakes are found everywhere. Please pay attention to them when sneaking up on birds. Don’t walk about with your head in the trees, keep looking down as well. This beautiful Copperhead was only meters away from those gorgeous little Goslings.
I love snakes

Love the babies. Not the snake though. I love Spring, and seeing babies of all birds around, some early, some later. Would love to see these babies for myself. Well taken.

Very good point M-L (about the snakes) I will definately keep that in mind.
Lovely shot of the snake. I love snakes too
