but again grohister, these are not an unusual sighting in C.A. at the moment due to the rain. Budgies and Zebra Finches are into the thousands here at the moment too, and they are awesome to hear and see. Others are on my blog: http://rwsboa2011.blogspot.com.au/
Cheers.

Thanks for the link to your blog. You have some great photos and spottings. In your back yard no less. I've been in Darwin since November and am leaving in three weeks. I'm now even more upset I haven't had the chance to make it to C.A and sadly won't be travelling that far south on my drive back to Melbourne. I will be back one day though and I hope these amazing birds will once again be in abundance so I have the chance to spot them! :)
I love those photos. Wouldn't it be funny, if only one single bird in the first photo would fly the other way? (that's me and my twisted mind, I'm sure that bird would be me!)
To think people put those beautiful birds in cages.
It's a bit ironic that we had a visit from one, just one, cockatiel about a week ago. We occasionally see a pair or a handful around December but not for a few years.
Beautiful!! :)
Where did you spot these? Again, never seen them in the wild and am very jealous!
